Between Christmas and New Year my wife and I went to visit Annie Parftt's Hedgehog Hospital in Brimscombe.  She is an inspiration character who is devoting her life to saving young hedgehogs who face early death unless someone intervenes to save them.

The biggest problem we learned is that the second annual litter is now being born too late in the year which means that when the parents hibernate the young are left to fend for themselves and cannot survive.

Annie is researching why this is happening and how we might re-populate areas where the numbers of hedgehogs are dangerously low.  Annie has a web site at
www.helpahedgehog.org .  Over the last few months I have been reading about the Hedgehog Hospital in the local press and I am so glad to have met Annie and looked at the incredible work that she is doing.

Annie will soon be looking for people who have walled or very safely fenced gardens and hedgehog friendly areas in those gardens so that rescued healthy hedgehogs can be re-homed in a natural habitat.  If there is anyone reading this who might be interested in this again contact Annie via her website.
