The culmination of Up for Debate, the survey that I have been conducting with the support of interested colleagues from the locality was even though I say with all modesty a real success. Anyone who wasn’t at the final session held last Saturday in the Downfield Sixth Form Centre Lecture Theatre missed a real treat. On Sunday 18th October David attended a service at Gloucestershire Cathedral celebrating the Aden Veterans’ Association in Gloucestershire and the dedication of the new Branch Standard. It is the practice of military organisations to carry their standards to act as a rallying point for troops and to identify the location of the commander.

On Saturday 10th October I visited Godsells’ Farm in Leonard Stanley to take part in their Apple Day. It is brilliant to see this tradition continuing and taste the lovely juice that was the result of the apple pressing from a traditional apple press.

On Saturday 10th October I shared with great pleasure the Stroud Subscription Rooms 175th anniversary. I went along to look at the displays and to see the video that was on to commemorate this. To build this wonderful facility all those years ago was a marvellous achievement.

On Friday 9th October I made a tour around the recently re-built Rednock School. The new school is a fascinating building and what an achievement for the Head, Governors, Staff, Students and local community.

On Thursday 8th October I welcomed Margaret Hodge the Culture and Heritage Minister to come and see the important Purton Hulks site alongside the River Severn. This was at the invitation of Paul Barnett and others who as Friends of Purton have run a brilliant campaign to get old barges and trows recognised and protected.

On Saturday the 26th September I attended the opening of North Nibley Village Hall extension. This is a splendid new facility making the hall one of the best in the district updating and improving the hall significantly.
